Identify 3-5 Critical Roles

To get started, select 3-5 roles that you'd like to prioritize as a starting point for pulling data. This helps to provide a smaller sample size to work with. Once you get the process down, you can add in additional roles.

For workforce development, we want to prioritize good jobs that people can train for within a reasonable time frame. The following criteria are recommended for aligning with CELC work:

  • At least a living wage (>$17 / hour). Preferably a family-sustaining wage (>$35 / hour). (MIT Living Wage Calculator)

  • Typically requires less than a four year degree

We recommend selecting jobs that have one or more of the following priority factors:

High demand
High growth
High strategic importance
Clear gaps in talent supply
